AI bookkeeping software for Canadian small businesses
AI Bookkeeper reads your receipts, bills and statements, proposes the accounts and sales tax treatment, and waits for your approval before posting a balanced double-entry record. It is designed for owner-operators, bookkeepers and accountants working across all 10 provinces and 3 territories.
14-day free trial. No credit card required.
What the AI actually does
The assistant handles the repetitive reading and matching work: pulling vendor, date, subtotal and tax amounts off a document, recognising vendors you have seen before, and suggesting a category based on your own chart of accounts. The arithmetic behind the ledger stays deterministic.
- Receipts, bills and statements in PDF, JPG or PNG, in English or French
- Vendor profiles that remember the usual account and tax treatment
- Multi-page documents grouped into a single transaction
A real double-entry ledger
Every approved transaction becomes a balanced journal entry in Canadian dollars, with amounts stored in cents so rounding never drifts. Profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance and general ledger reports are produced from those entries, not from a spreadsheet of totals.
Human-in-the-loop review, always
Extracted fields and suggested categories are proposals, not postings. Nothing reaches the ledger until a person approves it, and every approval is recorded with who changed what, before and after, and why.
- Low-confidence documents are routed to a review queue instead of being posted
- Possible duplicates are flagged before they can be approved twice
- Closed accounting periods reject new entries; corrections are posted as reversals
Bilingual from day one
The entire interface, including reports and support, is available in English and Canadian French. You can switch language at any time, and the choice follows your account.
Frequently asked questions
Does AI Bookkeeper file my taxes with the CRA?
No. The software prepares figures and reports you can use to complete a filing, and it does not transmit anything to the Canada Revenue Agency or Revenu Québec on your behalf. Review the numbers with your accountant before filing.
Can I try it without a credit card?
Yes. The 14-day trial starts as soon as you finish business setup and does not ask for a payment method.
Is the AI allowed to post entries on its own?
No. Suggestions must be approved by a person, and every approval is written to an audit log with the before and after values.
Start your books on solid ground
Set up your business in a few guided steps and review your first documents the same day.
AI Bookkeeper is bookkeeping software, not an accounting, tax or legal advisor. Figures and reports are prepared for your review and should be verified before filing.
